Performing Arts Club Newsletter - December 16, 2023

Happy Holidays everyone!  This just might be my last newsletter in 2023 so I want to wish all of you a happy and healthy 2024!

Still to come up in 2023 is The Choraliers' FREE  holiday concert this Tuesday at 6:00 in the Delaware Room.  This will be a fun show with singing by the Choraliers, dancing by the Showstoppers and music by the "Last Ride Band."  A cash bar will be available.  They are requesting a cash donation for the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.  Come support our PAC members and give something to help others.  That's what this season is all about! Contact Vaunetta to reserve your spot or if you have any questions, at vnuudh@gmail.com.

The work has begun on our next Anthem Community Players' show, "Broadway Treasures," scheduled for April. Susan Girard, the director, has asked me to canvass for a PAC member, or a SCA resident willing to join the PAC, to sign (American sign language) during one of the vocal numbers in the production.  If you, or someone you know, might be interested, please email her at susan5005@hotmail.com.

We do have several events of interest coming up the beginning of January.  Consider trying out Storytelling in the new year. Please note that the meeting days have changed to Wednesdays.  The next meeting will be on January 3 at 6:30 in the Anthem Center Greene Room.  Come hear several of your PAC friends (including me) talk about a windfall (the topic of the month) they have experienced and also learn more about the art of storytelling.  Contact SIG leader, Shirley at sincity.shirley@gmail.com.

Readers Playhouse meetings are also undergoing a change.  Still on the Third Thursday of each month at 5:30 (no meeting in December), the location has changed to the Liberty Center.  The group is looking for scripts, original or old favorites, comedy or drama.  Come and bring them with you.  Questions?  Contact Phil at pschlaeger@msn.com.

Diana Chang, SIG Leader for Desert Divas, has asked me to include the following: "The Performing Arts Club is expanding its Divas' Share program.  Starting in January 2024, Divas will be having a weekly Share Time.  Grace Lin has graciously agreed to volunteer her time to teach hula every Friday at the Liberty Center from 1:30-3:00. These class are FREE for all PAC members.  You don't have to be a dancer to join.  So please come on Fridays and join the fun."  Contact Diana at dianamchang@msn.com with any questions.

Pam Pace will soon be starting another round of free acting classes.   The theme will be "Sitcoms of the 70s." This session will begin on Monday, January 8 at 1:30 at Liberty Center.  Please contact Pam at pampace21@gmail.com with any questions or to sign up.

Our Webmaster, Gary Duffel, has asked me to add the following:  "If any of the SIGs wish to post an event or photos on the website, please send the info or photos to Gary at elduff@cox.net. Photos need to be in jpeg and no smaller than 50-100 kb and 300 dbi.  Any artwork needs to be in a PDF format."

I want to thank all of you who keep me up-to-date with the latest information.  If not for you, I would have nothing to say! If I forget to include what you have told me, please resend me the information to include in a subsequent newsletter.

Lastly, I want to give you the dates of the 2024 General meetings: 1/11, 4/18, 6/3 and 11/12.  Please make note of these dates in your calendars. More information will follow.

Once again, Happy Holidays!  Happy New Year!
