Performing Arts Club Newsletter - April 19, 2024

I want to begin with a shout-out to all of our members who participated in the PAC's production of Broadway Treasures. Thank you to the creators, director, coaches, those on the stage, behind the stage and in the control booth. Thank you to the seamstresses who made many of those beautiful costumes. You all worked hard and it paid off! Congratulations!

Thank you also to all who attended our General Meeting yesterday.  I thought it was like being at a party.  We had delicious food.  Thank you so much Richard (and Gloria).  We had music.  Thank you to the Last Ride Band.  People were dancing, which is always a sign that they are having a good time.  And, to our wonderful Desert Divas who thrilled everyone with their lovely hula dances, what a treat for all of us.

Yes, we also had a meeting with lots of information.  The orientation for Charlie Sees the Light got everyone excited for this next production.  You should have all received several emails informing you how to get involved.  If you have any questions, please contact the director, Ziona Friedlander at ziona88@mac.com or assistant director, Paula Phelps at rphelpsciyc@yahoo.com.

There were some important SIG updates, as well:

The Choraliers show, "Get Happy", is scheduled for May 23 at 7:00. The Showstoppers want you to know that they are excited to be dancing at the show, as well.  Please buy your tickets for only $10 apiece and join me at the show! There is even a cash bar!!

As a reminder from the Karaoke group, they will be meeting in April on Tuesday, the 24th.  This change is for April only.  Join them in the Delaware Room from 1-4.  You can sing or just sit back and be entertained.

The Storytellers will be meeting on the North Lawn outside of Anthem Center (weather permitting) on Wednesday, May 1 at 6:30. The topic is "Transit."  You can bet there will be some funny and fascinating stories! Bring a lawn chair, relax and be ready to be entertained.

Readers' Playhouse is looking for scripts for their upcoming production on October 9, titled, "Hold the Onions."  The requirement is that all scripts, whether comedy, drama or song, must include some reference to pizza.  Get those creative juices going and send your results to Susan Dubin or Phil Schlaeger (pschlaeger@msn.com).

The Desert Divas are holding Hula classes on Mondays and Fridays from 1:30-3:30 and Sundays from 12:30-3:00 in the Liberty Center.  You have the opportunity to learn what was demonstrated so beautifully at our meeting.  If interested, contact Diana Chang at dianamchang@msn.com or Grace Lin at grace888lin@yahoo.com.

Another topic that was touched on at last night's meeting was the need for VOLUNTEERS.  Without people to support our club, there can be no club.  Please contact me if you are considering any leadership position in 2025, as some members will be ending their terms at the end of this year.  The Production Support Committee is looking for new members.  They would like at least one new member to be tech proficient.  If you have any questions about the workings of this committee, or know that you are interested, please contact Susan Dubin at susandubin48@gmail.com.  And, lastly, PAC needs a new volunteer to write the monthly Spirit article.  Vaunetta has been working on this for several years and deserves a break.  She will be happy to help a PAC member learn the ropes.  Please contact her at vnuudh@gmail.com.

There will be a Celebration of Life for long-time PAC member, Malia Tetzlaff on Sunday, April 21 at 3:30 in the multi-purpose Room in Independence Center.  Phyll Perry is looking for roses to decorate the room.  If you have any, please contact her at boomertv1960@gmail.com.

Fellow PAC member, Bob Bush asked that I reach out to PAC members to invite them to support local veterans at the Red, White and Blue BBQ on May 18th in the Independence Center Courtyard.  Food will be provided by Bell's BBQ.  Doors open at 5:00.  The cost is $35, with checks payable to Sun City Anthem Community Association, Inc. Include "Vet's BBQ" in the memo line and deposit in the Veteran's Club mailbox.  Call Bob with questions at 702-379-5974.

Thank you to all who help make this club the creative outlet it is for our members, giving all of us the opportunity to express ourselves in so many ways!
