Performing Arts Club Newsletter - February 29, 2024

Happy Leap Day everyone!  I hope you are doing something exciting with this extra day.  Clearly, I am using it to write to all of you!

First of all, I am sad to report the passing of two longtime PAC members, Iris Keels and Malia Tetzlaff. If anyone would like to write about either of these two ladies, please send the information to me and it can be distributed to the Membership.

I am proud to share that our Anthem Jazz dancers will be participating in in the Aging Wellness event at the SouthPoint this Saturday!  They will take the stage at 11:30.  Come cheer them on!!

We are getting closer to the performance dates of Broadway Treasures.  Shows are April 12 at 7:00, April13 at 3:00 and April 14 at 3:00.  Get your tickets online or at the Activities Office.

As I hope most, if not all, of you know, we are busily planning what we hope will be the first of an annual community-wide joint PAC/AAHC Karaoke Competition.  The posters advertising this event are in the Centers.  Attached to each poster, you will find an application for entry, as well as a QR code if you are more high-tech.  Contestant liaisons are at the ready to answer any questions you might have.  They can be reached at 1voiceliason@gmail.com.  This is a two-day event, June 5 and June 19, 2024.  This is your opportunity to share your talent and joy of singing with the SCA community.  Don't get closed out. Participation is limited to the first 25 applicants, and 5 alternates.

The Storytelling SIG will be taking a short hiatus to give those rehearsing for Broadway Treasures some breathing room.  Storytelling will resume on the first Wednesday in May (May 1) at 6:30.  Hopefully, the weather will be perfect for a meeting on the lawn behind Anthem Center.  Let Shirley know at o.shirley@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

The Desert Divas will be giving FREE hula lessons to all interested PAC members.  Please come on Wednesdays from 9-10:45 and Fridays from 1:30-3:00, as well as select Mondays from 1:30-3:00, at Liberty Center.  They would love to have you join them!

Our club has so much to offer, no matter where your interests lie. There are so many opportunities to expand your horizons. Don't dismiss an activity because you have never done it or think you might not be very good.  If you're not sure, I know every SIG leader would be happy to answer any questions you might have.  Think outside the box and have some fun!

Lastly, here are our March birthdays: Margaret Carbaugh, Marybeth Lohman, Shirley Otradovec, Maleha McCudden, Bill Williams, Roseanne WoodWilly Krom, Brenda Johnson, Bunnie Domnitz, Naty Go, Mary Rose Frick, Len Indelicato, Celso Penaredondo, Mike Molony, Norm Kaplan.  Happy Birthday to all!!

I'm done now.  As always, I hope I didn't leave anything out.  And, please keep me up-to-date on all of your PAC activities!

Thanks.

Willis
