Happy Holidays to all! Unless something unexpected comes up, this will be my final Newsletter, as my term as PAC President ends on December 31. At that time, I leave the Performing Arts Club in the capable hands of our new President, Ira King!
Before I go, though, I do have some relevant news to share.
"Charlie Sees the Light" is going into its last month of rehearsals. Everyone involved with this show is very excited to share it with fellow PAC members, as well as the SCA community and beyond. Please get your tickets now to support your club and, even more importantly, to see a wonderful show! Tickets can be purchased in the Activities Office or through our website, scapac.org. Show dates are January 29 at 6:30, January 31 at 6:30, February 1 & 2 at 2:00.
Our Karaoke SIG is excited to announce that they are teaming up with Yorktown Grill to present a KARAOKE NIGHT on the first Monday of every month from 4:00-6:00, beginning February 3, 2025! Put it in your calendar now to come join your PAC friends and make some new ones. You can come to participate or just listen. Have a drink, some Happy Hour food and enjoy! Right now, Karaoke SIG Leader, Vince McCann is looking for a minimum of 10-15 people to commit to perform that evening. Select your song(s) from the song list in the Karaoke section of our website. Advise Vince of the title and number so that it can be preloaded on the equipment. The sooner you can do this, the happier Vince will be. Vince is also looking for assistance that evening. Vince is willing to MC, but would welcome another volunteer. He will definitely need help with set-up and managing the machine. (Training will be provided). Please step up for this Club event. It is a great opportunity to increase our visibility in the Community. Vince can be reached at vintzinvegas2019@gmail.com. He is available to answer any questions you might have. Mark your calendar and have some fun!
The Production Support Committee would like to wish everyone a joyous holiday season! The Committee is still accepting submissions of plays for the PAC to produce in 2026. The form to indicate your interest and ideas for a show can be found on the website. The deadline for a submission is March 1, 2025. Please complete the form and send it with your script, or even just your concept, to Susan Dubin, susandubin48@gmail.com. If you have any questions, Susan will welcome hearing from you.
Samaria Graham, the Acting SIG leader for Tapping for Fun would like to share that 24 people have shown interest in this new group. Males and females are encouraged to join to have fun, get some exercise and learn some tap techniques. They are starting out with basics and then, who knows? The group is seeking a permanent SIG Leader, who will then become a member of the PAC Board. They are also looking for a tap teacher. Please contact Samaria at airamasretten219@gmail.com with any questions.
The last bit of news is that at today's SCA Board meeting, the project to create a pass-through connecting stage left and right was approved. Once built, this will mean no more having to go around the building in bad weather. There will be a lock on the door so that access can be controlled, as needed.
I think I have covered everything. I want to thank everyone who has read through these newsletters for two years. I hope you have enjoyed them. WELCOME IRA!
