Good afternoon! One would think that, as we approach summer, there would be little information for me to share with you, but one would be wrong. PLEASE read this Newsletter all the way through or, I guarantee, you will miss something important to you.
The first piece of news is rather sad for me. I am announcing the retirement of Nicole and Gary Duffel from our Club. I wish to thank them for their 24 years of service to the Performing Arts Club. Nicole wrote, choreographed and/or directed numerous shows. Her costume-making skills are legendary. She has been the leader/choreographer of the Anthem Jazz SIG and has turned them into award-winning dancers. For 24 years, Nicole has been there for our club whenever she was needed. Gary's service was behind the scenes, but integral nonetheless, as he photographed cast members, created artwork and served as webmaster. Gary and Nicole will continue their involvement in a variety of projects that take them into the Las Vegas Community. I am sure I speak for the entire cub in saying "Thank you and you will both be missed."
Reader's Playhouse will be holding an important meeting this Thursday, June 20 at 5:30 in the multi-purpose room in the Liberty Center. The group will be discussing the potential scripts, casting and rehearsals for their October 9th show, "Hold the Onions." This is a very important meeting for you to attend if you wish to participate in this show. If you are unable to make it, but are interested in taking part, please contact Suzi at susandubin48@gmail.com or Phil at pschlaeger@msn.com. They are hoping to see many of you on Thursday.
Those of you who were at our General Meeting are aware that Samaria is interested in forming a "Tapping for Fun" group. If you are a lover of tap dance (even if you have never done this before), please join her at an interest meeting on Thursday, June 27 at 4:30 in the Anthem Center. The exact location has not been determined, so if you are planning to attend please contact Samaria at 702-260-6307 or at airamasretten219@gmail.com.
In addition, Samaria, our Club historian, is looking for video recordings and programs from past PAC shows. This includes shows presented by all of our SIGs. She emphasized that she is especially in need of recordings and programs for the more recent shows. If you have anything from any show that you think she might be able to use, she would love to hear from you. Contact Samaria at 702-260-6307 or airamasretten219@gmail.com.
Some really nice news... Sandy Seddon has donated her personal microwave oven and mini-fridge. They have been placed in the backstage Green Room for use during rehearsals and shows. I sent her an email from PAC, thanking her for her generosity.
Before I end this Newsletter, I must reiterate the need for a Nominating Committee Chair, as well as for PAC members to indicate their interest in taking on a leadership position for 2025. Information on job responsibilities has been sent to all of you. Please let me know if you are interested in any of the above. I am also happy to answer any questions you might have.
Lastly, (Yes, I really do think I am finished) I want to remind everyone that the 2024 Policies and Procedures have been posted on the website for your perusal.
Thanks for reading all the way through this!!
